It definitely sounds like a dysregulated nervous system, whether or not you act impulsively or can control your emotions. Been there, done that. Have you read the book It Didnโ€™t Start With You by Mark Wolynn? Fascinating read on how trauma can be inherited from family members and methods on finding where your own inheritance comes from.

Agreed, although I had the thought recently reflecting on my mom that she must have had anxiety because living as a newlywed my husband is my rock for establishing that thing I always thought was normal because my mom did it - is not.

I just asked my therapist that not to long ago "am I normal? what is normal anyway?" And I often think GA is just for the privileged. My 13y old Sephora loving dtr seems to have way more than the children trying to sell me sunglasses on the streets of Zimbabwe.
